Funded through the generous support of RSID alumni George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, with matching funding from the Brookfield Institute and Ryerson University, the Yabu Pushelberg Award for Innovation in Interior Design provides an RSID student with $6000 to take their project from ideation to the prototype stage. The award is facilitated by the Design Fabrication Zone and promotes the greatest degree of innovative and entrepreneurial thought in Interior Design.

Jessica Lee is a fourth year Interior Design student at Ryerson University and the winner of the 2016 YabuPushelberg Award for Innovation in Interior Design. In her YabuPushelberg application, Jessica proposes an installation that will challenge the current role of technology in interior design through an investigation of emerging techniques and computational methods. Jessica’s proposed installation explores the ability of autogenic processes to give way to new interior volumes with self-reinforcing and continually transforming surfaces.
