Experimental Project

Oculus is a modern reimagination of the sukkah. Inspired by the “Four Kinds,” which reflect four different personalities within the Jewish community, the Oculus’ modular frustum components reveal various views out into the surrounding environment. Each frustum is comprised of a base wooden skeleton that is enveloped by a canvas skin with a tinted acrylic disc. This base design is made up of six distinct modules that, when placed together, form a larger base group. When stacked close together, the dome shaped sukkah begins to take form creating a modular, light weight and comfortable sukkah.
